(ISC)2 Merchandise Store

Are there still plans to add some new items such as mugs, lanyard etc to the store? I remember seeing a post at the beginning of this year stating so, but it seems nothing else has been added.

I would love to have a (ISC)2 mug, and lanyard for work!!!

Is the merch store really selling a "Fugitive Backpack"? @amandavanceISC2 you might want to reconsider pulling that item or re-branding it to something more appropriate for this profession.

Well, at least they aren't selling "bulletproof" backpacks ...

(Yet ...)

Reminds of my most recent experience at the airport while travelling. At the security check after immigration, you usually have to take laptops our of handbags, which I'm used to. This time, though, they had me remove my chargers, USB cables, Hard drivers, phones, flash drives, etc --- and then scanned my bag a second time before letting me through. (This happened at 2 airports)

If I had this 'Fugutive' bag, I might have been detained at immigration...  Man LOL

I recall the time I got asked to go through my carry-on. As I was teaching, I had
two computers, chargers for both and my phone, my phone, presentation
controller, laser pointer, a bunch of USB drives with extra content for the
candidates, extra cables, and more. None of that got a second glance from the
screeners. What they were interested in was a giveaway vendor promo pen with a
USB drive in it (which I had, in fact, forgotten was in the bag ...)

Well, it would let them kill 2 birds with 1 stone --- embroidering so much onto the bag would probably make it bullet-proof... Man Wink

The BoD might decide to go ahead with this. Then again, they should focus on the portal & support issues...

This also brings to mind something from my days as a kid in the 90s. While I was travelling from Riyadh to India, airport security in Riyadh flagged my check-in baggage. The item they detected was a metal toy used to detonate plastic / paper caps, similar to a cap gun. It would have be thrown up & the inserted caps would detonate when it hit the ground. For appeal, it was shaped like the nuclear bomb 'Little Boy.'

Anyways, once I explained what it was, they let me go. A friend of my Dad who had accompanied me to the airport told him what transpired, saying 'I was caught carrying explosives.' Later, I clarified it all to him...

The truth was I had carried a lot of those paper & plastic caps in my check-in baggage --- back then, I saw them as mere toys & wasn't familiar with airline restrictions --- but the airport scanners obviously didn't pick these up.  Man Wink

Relating this to IT Security, it would be like a monitoring system throwing up false alerts while failing to detect a present threat...

Unfortunately, I don't think they can re-brand it.  If you look on the OGIO site, that is the official name of the bag, so they need to be careful with copyright, etc. (From Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/OGIO-Fugitive-Pack/dp/B015JXJA9Y).
