(ISC)2 Board of Directors election

I am personally dismayed that the candidates on this year's board ballot have not stopped by to chat with the membership.

I know that Wim Remes posted several questions that he would like to see the potential candidates answer but have seen no response.

Anyone else concerned?

Honestly, I haven't been diligently following it all and wasn't aware that they haven't been participating, but if that is the case, yes, it is disturbing.

If they're going to play a part in making the big decisions to address issues, they should know what 's going on and what they've got to deal with.

Oh, come. For the past 20 years interaction with the BoD has been the
exception, rather than the rule. I mean, Wim has posted a bit (now that he's off
the Board?), and GregT came, proved that he was a lurker, and took off in a huff
when he was called one. Who else from the BoD has been here?

I agree. And it's clear, and consistent, that the BoD has no interest in the
common membership.

Once upon a time there was a lively CISSP Forum that was initially nominally an official meeting place for (ISC)2 certification holders. Even s it slowly slid form official to unsupported to reviled status, it stayed lively and active. Year after year there were calls for BoD members to be active in that forum. Crickets can be loud at time.

I surmise that there is similar silence over on the successor (definitely unofficial) forum over on Groups.io.

So, we continue to confirm, everything old is new again.

Last year, there was a "2018 Election" group.  A few candidates did join in and participate a bit.  After the election, the group was "archived" so that none of have access to the historical record.  The presence of the group inspired me to vote and my vote was influenced by those who participated.

This year, I have not seen any candidates announce themselves and a "2019 Election" group has not been created.  If nothing improves, I may just be submitting a blank ballot, so that they at least know the issue was not that I forgot.

Unfortunately, I believe a blank ballot is disregarded and not really looked at (It was always treated as a spoiled ballot) and unless a significant number of folks do it, may not get the message across.

Instead, I plan on writing in four names of individuals that I believe would be great board members (remember there are three ways to be elected to the board of directors according to the by-laws (1st by Board nomination, 2nd by collecting x number of signatures and 3rd by write-in)).

Just my thoughts,

I like that approach better.  Same message, delivered much more strongly,

Are you perhaps interested in a write-in run at it?

True. I don't know if we have any BoD members (or prospects) on the forum,
and, if so, they certianly aren't saying anything.

Hello all! We're planning an election-specific board which will be opened tomorrow.

That will be great --- so long as we get some participation from those standing for election to the BoD.

If we're moving the discussion elsewhere but they won't be joining anyway, it's not going to serve any purpose...  Man Frustrated
