@rslade   This news is old hat, back in the days of listening to Teleprinters thumping, and the Russians listening to the rise and fall of the key bars, these techniques have been part and parcel of espionage technical countermeasures for years.

 

Remember TEMPEST, now it is EMF, and back to Lasers shone upon Windows, and picking up the vibrations from the windows, these days one would apply them to AI to automatically decipher into a intelligible stream of information for the listener remotely. 

 

Bugs in flowers on the table, telephones are so minute, that it would be very hard to detect them without the correct Counter Technical Measures equipment and listening equipment.
