During this crisis, both medical and economic, lots of people are trying new ways to make money. According to lots of movies and TV shows, the quickest way to make lots of money (aside from just stealing it) is to trade stocks, bonds, and various financial derivatives. So, lots of people are trying their hand at stock trading, and lots of developers are producing systems and apps to assist people in this activity. One such app was specifically aimed at new investors, just getting into the trading game. However, it had an unusual user interface, that did not always display the complete state of the traders financial situation. It would, on occasion, display status after only part of a trade had been completed, and, in this case, could show the trader as having lost huge amounts of money, and being in significant debt.
Someone trying to make a career as a stock trader committed suicide, apparently due to the app that indicated, erroneously, that he had lost a lot of money.
The app developers have stated that they will be making changes to the interface.
The user interface can be important.
