The EU Network and Information Security (NIS) Directive – implications for the energy sector
The NIS Directive sets out measures designed to ensure critical IT systems in central sectors of the economy like banking, energy, health and transport are secure.
The Directive applies to operators of 'essential services' and to 'digital service providers'. Slightly different requirements apply depending on whether an organisation is considered an operator of essential services or a digital service provider.
