The Chinese Social Credit System

The Social Credit System is a national reputation system being developed by the Chinese government. By 2020, it is intended to standardize the assessment of citizens' and businesses' economic and social reputation, or 'Social Credit'. Scores range in value from 350 to 950. Interestingly enough many people are only now beginning to wonder why the US Border Patrol is asking for your social media identity. We are in the midst of other governments getting into the game... my brain needs oxygen.

Yeah, we had Social Credit in BC. It wasn't great.

(No, I don't expect any of you to get it ...)

That is scary; all I can say is that I'm glad I'm not a citizen there. My country (India) started with a bio-metric ID system sometime back --- but it's taking time to catch on, & I don't see it blossoming into anything like this...
