State Surveillance Tightens

There has been a lot of talk about the disbandment of civil liberties and possibly the imposition of martial law in this pandemic. The USA has been slow to learn from what China, Hong Kong, and Israeli are presently doing in terms of applying technical state surveillance, but that is all about to change.

In the USA, as everything grinds to a halt, we are starting to see the emergence of uniformed police taking people's temperature as they enter work and shopping facilities. Expect to be stopped at a checkpoint on the street. If you have a fever then you will be taken away and put in confinement. You will not be able to escape NY because there will be checkpoints at the Lincoln/Holland tunnels and the Brooklyn bridge. Apps, and more Apps and more Wristbands are going to become mandatory. We are already confined. Next comes electronic monitoring. Don't tell Alexa or Google Home that you are sick. You could get reported. Your home sensors will track and report your movements, but will that be effective at saving humanity?

in case you missed it Google Maps shares an alert with users who search for medical-related locations and urges them to call a doctor before visiting the facility if they may be infected. The notification is linked to the official Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) official coronavirus website that provides steps to limit spreading the virus. Does Google report these users to the CDC? Are they keeping a list? Don't worry, Google doesn't track your device location 😉

It’s worth folk looking into the the TraceTogether app from Singapore.

It uses bluetooth signals to store device contacts on the phone, and essentially automates contact tracing intel gathering, leaving the info on the phone with an option to send. the more people installing it the better the intel in the network.

It’s more useful/practical than surreptitious location identity searched for people looking up clinics.

It’s Developers are planning to have its source code released, so theoretically if grassroots use it to create their own app in their countries then a useful tool might be there and if you don’t want it you don’t have to have it:
