Signapore Airlines "seatcams"?

So, you're sitting (comfortably, one presumes) in a seat on Singapore Airlines, and you look at the seatback entertainment console and see ...

Is it looking back at you?

Singapore Airlines says no ...

Do we believe them?

I can't help but think this is simply a feature of the entertainment system possibly for use for another application such as Skype for Video chat or even two way communication between the customer and the attendant.  Additionally, the camera appears that it is non concealed and in plain view.

Don't be silly; of course not!

MacGiver countermeasure:

1. Prop a book or magazine up against the seatback to prevent the camera from viewing your next several moves.

2. Ask flight attendant for chewing gum, or have your own. (They should have plenty for passengers needing to clear their ears.)

3. Chew one stick until it is pliable but still sticky.

4. Mash the sticky gum deep into the suspicious round opening.

5. Cover the gum with a small piece of the silver gum wrapper to further camouflage it.

6. Sit back and continue reading the book or magazine, taking it back down acting nonchalantly about the time.

But what happens when "Big Brother" finds out you have tried to circumvent their methods?

It's rare to see gum in wrapper, most times it's in a blister pack or container. Ideally, the passenger should put on his Guy Fawkes mask, if he didn't already do so after leaving his basement apartment.

IANA but I think you'd just get fined form minor vandalism, you'll only get caned for vandalism is its public property/its really overt/there is a good chance of it being dangerous.

If it's wearing a mask they'll just ask you to take it off when they need to verify you...
