This topic was kicked off over in the Member Support area by Grandpa Rob @rslade in his post
ISC2 cyber insurance sales seminar?
suggesting that the specified webinar should not be sponsored by (ISC)2. However the, thread there quickly developed into a discussion on the value of cyber insurance for businesses. @Frank_Mayer has several good comments in his supplies there. This post is to add another reference to the discussion and move it her einto Industry News to attract more attention and participation.
The current October 2019 issue of ISSA Journal (Vol 17, #10) has a very well researched article by Kevin A. Sesock,
Immaturity & Moral Hazard in the Cyber Insurance Market.
Access to the Journal is generally limited to ISSA members, but this article is available to the public. I encourage folks to read it and continue the discussion on cyber insurance here.
Oh, Kevin's general conclusion is that cyber insurance is not a good deal and for now should be avoided. HE even pointed out when Hal Tipton was at the head of (ISC)2, Hal refused to by such insurance for the Consortium.
