Got lost in the Quantum Loop - New Internet

Perhaps when one used to stated "Lost in Space", may have real meaning in the near future with a Quantum Loop forming the next so called secure Internet?

I was under the impression that several different encryptions where currently being considered that could not be broken by quantum computing. Why secure the cable when you can secure the packet?

We need both. Securing the cable protects routing information both for accurate routing and to protect against inappropriate contact analysis. This is a major reason for the move form DNS to DNSSEC. Securing the packets protects the data itself.

The "Quantum Internet" idea seems to be based purely on fantasy and unworkable
tech.

But, yes, at the same time NIST is looking for crypto candidates that are not
subject to attack by quantum computers (if we ever get them).

The two topics should not be confused.
