Google is definitely reading your calendar ...

I do my taxes on paper, I do my household accounts on paper, and for many years I carried a normal little appointment book.  Relatively recently I started to use Google's calendar function (mostly since I started carrying an Android cell phone).

So today I'm checking out events for the next few days and I notice that one event pops up as:

Now, I never chose that graphic header for the event.  I never chose any graphic header for the event, or any other event.  It's a fairly simple function to do a straightforward word match to a set of graphics illustrating common events, but it does mean Google is reading your calendar ...

Nothing new... they can even trace what you like and what you don't like using the history of your browser. That's how they can create personalized marketing for every single person... Not a surprise if they monitor your calendar activity, and don't be surprise if they let you know about a new place near your house to have your haircut.  🙂

While it is unsettling - guess you signed up to the service without reading their terms and conditions.

Now, what does concern me more than automated software parsing and adding metadata to calendar entries to display a graphic. Which can actually be helpful and is a value add! Is this type of behaviour.
