Devices can produce deafening or disorienting sounds

DEF CON has produced yet another attack that could have been predicted.

Matt Wixey has found that those speakers you place all around your home can produce loud sounds.

Of course, he can do it remotely, but it still doesn't seem too desperately dangerous ...

A lot of us, did that unintentionally during our teens - listening to the various rock bands of the era!

King Crimson, comes to mind, especially on early Quadraphonic systems at high volume.

So are we getting to the age of remote controlled flash-bangs? Think of the consequences of that possibility.

Once upon a time, doing something like that would be quite a risk to take if you weren't backed by a government --- assuming you had motivation --- & would require the following: -

  1. Do a lot of research
  2. Weaponize something
  3. Deliver it to the target

Today, courtesy of the internet & IoT, it's become much simpler and can be done by anyone --- boredom being a possible motivating factor --- with little risk.
