Call for control of hacking tools

In the wake of the Bezos hack, a human rights activist is calling for "a moratorium on the sale and transfer" of surveillance and hac....

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

[Rob struggles to control his outburst of laughter]

Sorry.  I'm better, now.

It's just that I have been researching malware and these types of tools for over three decades, now, and nobody has been able to control them since day one.  Can't be done.  OK, you can try to put restrictions on a company like NSO Group (and good luck with that), but the teenage-ninja-wannabes in their basements are still going to be producing and spreading all kinds of garbage.

(Oh, and good luck legislating the difference between remote support tools and RATs [remote access trojans].)

If hacking tools and RATS are outlawed, only Hackers and Rats will have them!

My favorite "hacking technology" is an 8" chef's knife.  To me, it the perfect example of dual-use technology.  I use it to attack vegetables; miscreants use it to attack people.
