The payments industry hasn’t completely finished migrating from single DES.

Yes - SINGLE DES.

Bodes well for the PQC migration!

Can't disagree with the chart.

I thought that the US government retired this standard in the early 2000's (not sure the year) and most folks followed suit  I suspect some folks still use it but hope they migrate soon.

Well this is a surprise. I would have expect that using DES is so outdated now, they wouldnt even touch this. But I guess its like the SDLC, and security in mind, they never had it in from the beginning so its difficult to upgrade to a better security model now.
