Re: 5G could impact weather data

I think I have reported on this previously, and been shot down for raising it.

Re: 5G could impact weather data

To be clear, it isn't 5G that is the problem, it is the possible use of a specific frequency band for providing 5G services.  Any radio tech would cause an interference problem, as Ligado has known for many years, since they have tried before to use this (or similar) spectrum terrestrially, and been shot down due to interference issues with GPS.  The channels used by Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, etc. are already cleared for terrestrial use, and won't be an issue.

Re: 5G could impact weather data

Having been originally trained as a Marine Radio Officer, I fully realise it is 5G and the proposed frequency spectrum as well as an International Telecommunications Union (ITU) issue. More likely the weather will affect the signal coverage in certain circumstances. Cheers. Caute_cautim
