> May the 4th be with you!!!

Oh, come on!

How about: May the fifth be with you (for drinking game purposes)
Or: May the froth be with you (probably the same)
Or, as the tag line is for one of our comedy shows up here, may the farce be with
you.

Anyway, bye all, due to the sing in problems.

The sign in process is seriously borked, at least in some regard. I haven't been able
to sign on in over a year, on multiple platforms, under multiple broswers. (I know
that other people *have* been able to, but I doubt I am the only one who can't, so
I suspect that a number of people who actually *want* to be on the "community"
[although I can't imagine why], can't.)

So, how am I posting here? Well, using the "reply via email" function I can reply
to posts (well, some: since I started using it it seems, consistently, to fail about
30% of the time), so that's why my postings are showing up in odd and
inappropriate places. (Using "reply via email" I have no control over that.) I
can't create any new posts, of course, so any new industry news I get I'll either
have to keep to myself, or post as a reply in odd and inappropriate places.

(Sorry for the multiple posts on this topic, with the same content, but, as I said,
the "reply via email" function *doesn't* function a lot of the time, so I have to
short of shotgun stuff to try and get through.)

Just for debugging purposes (in case this ever gets reported to the actual
developers), there is *some* communication going on in the sign in process,
because, if I make a mistake typing my password I do get an error message.
However, if I type the correct username/registered email address and password,
absolutely nothing happens: no message, no response--and no access to the
"community."

> It's a trap!

Yeah, it definitely is, and I fell for it. I admit it: it was a piece of social
engineering, and I fell for it, hook, line, and signon.

I mean, I hate the "community." I've hated it ever since ISC2 first tried to
degrade the original CISSPfoum mailing list
https://community.isc2.org/t5/Welcome/ISC2-has-cut-off-signup-access-to-the-
CISSPforum/m-p/10799#M1149
and hated it even more when they actually killed it.
https://community.isc2.org/t5/GDPR/GDPR-and-killing-the-CISSPforum/m-
p/11172
https://community.isc2.org/t5/Career/quot-In-Memoriam-quot-CISSPforum/m-
p/11556

Yeah, we created a replacement
https://community.isc2.org/t5/Welcome/CISSPforum/m-p/9552
https://community.isc2.org/t5/Welcome/CISSPforum-replacement/m-p/11006
but it's a struggle to keep it afloat.

But, even though I hate the social media aspects of the "community,"
https://community.isc2.org/t5/Welcome/The-quot-Community-quot/m-p/10594
my preferences aren't as important as the profession, so I've tried to help out and
support over here on this Website. I've contributed, I've posted, I've replied, I've
given suggestions on how to study for the exam and approach the questions
https://community.isc2.org/t5/Certifications/CISSP-questions/m-p/18626
(Won't be able to do that any more, I guess ...)

But, if I can't sign in any more, I can't contribute much, so this is goodbye.
(Maybe a long goodbye, since I'll be able to "reply via email" as long as the
"subscription" holds out ...)

One good thing: there isn't any reason any longer to pay AMFs or try and register
CPEs any more 🙂

Every good Star Wars hacker (I mean "slicer") needs a "Computer Spike" which you can read about here: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Computer_spike/Legends Kinda sounds like a mix of fuzzing and brute force techniques. Have a great day all!

Oh, speaking of Death Stars (since I can't sign in and create a new post, I guess I have to take my opportunities where I find them), I highly recommend "Losing Earth: A Recent History," by Nathaniel Rich. Not because of its position on climate change (it's kinda depressing in that regard), but due to its interesting take on risk management, and how we consistently fail to properly account for *future* risks that aren't directly affecting us now (even if some initial threats or indications are quite clear).

Just got back from seeing A New Hope (the "fourth" episode) , accompanied by the local symphonic orchestra.  Quite cool.  They had a screen above the orchestra playing a special edition that had the soundtrack remixed without music.
