Misinformation during COVID-19 and the Cold War - Sweden acts

Hi All

A development we may see around the world, given the activities of the Russians, and Chinese with COVID-19 with misinformation, to protect nations and their respective people:

Combating misinformation, has now gone main stream.   Where misinformation is now a threat.

I think this is well intentioned, but great care must be taken to ensure it stays true to provable facts.  The danger is that "truth" is not necessarily objective:  it has been said that "truth is a point of view", and that is not terribly farfetched.  During the Cold War, the adversarial nations did something similar (though far more self-serving) through the use of their particular brand of propaganda, and the interpretation of right and wrong depended on what side one was on, and whether one was the sender or receiver of the message.

Potentially a very slippery slope, I think.

@Rleo   I agree, it has to be used carefully and we need agreed baselines and ethics attached.
