Absolutely correct! This is the way to approach it.

Hi Rob,

It is actually a longest exam that I've ever taken: continuous thinking and choosing right answer for every minute of three hours. I've never taken any exam like this.

Thank you.

Hi John,

"Many other tests you can just simply memorize enough question" is not applicable to the exams that I passed since I had to study really hard and use my experience of working to pass them.

Currently I am also trying to re-study really hard this time to pass CISSP too.

@btzackanlive Right now I am studying for the Azure Security exam, I have my CCSP, but I want a deeper level on knowledge and understanding relating to cloud computing. The test seems to cover a lot more than I first thought so I have pushed the date a few times. No point in trying it until I am ready.

The difference between memorizing and understanding is that when things are memorized you only have the answer to one problem, but when you understand you can figure out and answer any problem in that area, and I think this is very important in our field, well and IT in general. Although computers are black and white at heart we need to be able to say, but what if? It's a great mentality for troubleshooting and risk assessment. It's the way we begin to perceive the unknown unknown and come up with crazy ideas. It's how we can look at an exam question and discount a few answer right off because we know you can't possibly get the solution that is needed using them. Another thing I like is that I feel like I understand something when I would be able to have a conversation with someone about it. If I can explain it to someone else, then I feel like I have a basic understand of something.

And I do wish you luck for the nest time you take that test!

@btzackanlive

Hope it goes all well with you study.

Study hard is important and finding a way to study which suit your need and style is also important and what's effective for one really depends.

To give you a bit assurance, I have finished 3 certification exams this year.

  • EC-council C|CISO in March 19.
  • CSSLP in April 17
  • ISSEP in May 8.

Where the last 2 exams are much more difficult than CISSP (esp the last one). Therefore with the right knowledge and skill, passing CISSP is not that hard.

Last but not least, certification is a just starting of a new journey and not an end.

Good luck to you study and exam.

John
