Exams in Montreal, Canada

Good day,

I got initiated to the CC free course promotion and I wanted to take the exam to test my knowledge. I just realized the we not have a test center in Quebec. Is there not online exams as other providers provide please?

I do not want to travel the whole day for an exam.

No, there are not.  All exams are at Pearson Vue sites that offer ISC2 exams.  ISC2 did a couple of pilots with the CISSP in English, but the results were not good from what they observed.  ISC2 works to protect the integrity of their exams which is important.  That being said I had to look because I did not think that the exams were in French but was not sure why could not take an exam there in English.  I did find this: Due to Quebec, Canada’s Bill 96, which describes French language/localization requirements for doing business in that province, ISC2 exams will not be available in the province.

It is unfortunate that Quebec implemented Bill 96 that respecting the French language in Quebec, especially businesses.

Even though the administration, maintenance, etc. is in Management's prevue, I might be inclined to reach out to the Board.  Darren Gallop is a new board member and can bring the concerns to management.

Also very unfortunate that you might need to travel to Ottawa or maybe Kingston to take the test.

Just passed the exam in Ottawa, I am located in Quebec so I had to travel about 15 hours to get there and come back after.

They make sure to protect themselves against any cheating, that's why they ask you to go to a third party testing center (Pearson Vue)

Je suis déjà sur-qualifié avec cette certification dans mon travail actuel (security analyst, edu/higher education sector) mais on dirait que je suis tout de même en train de regarder pour faire le ISSEP ou une des 2 variantes dans les prochaines années 😄

Mon but est d'aller jusqu'au maximum de mes capacités, ceci est la première formation de sécurité à mon actif (Cissp)!

Due to Quebec, Canada’s Bill 96, which describes French language/localization requirements for doing business in that province, ISC2 exams will not be available in the province.

All ISC2 exams are offered at Pearson VUE testing centers worldwide.  On-line exams are not an option at this time.

Unfortunately, our exams can only be delivered in an approved Pearson VUE testing center. Not all Pearson VUE testing centers are ISC2 authorized testing centers.

@joBastillo So many moons ago, I was on the Board and I campaigned to have materials translated in French.

Management came up with 50 different reasons not to.  The main one:  Wait for it........

French Canadian was a bastardised version and they would need to create two versions.  Without naming names there were folks from Academia that bought this argument.

We both know that French Canadian has some differences BUT we also know most Canadians are intelligent enough to handle that difference.  We also know that most languages have variations even English.

I was asked once what it would take for the organisation to gain a foot hold in Canada.  I don't know maybe translate the materials into French (they seem to forget that Canada has two Official languages) unlike the US with only one recognised even though about 15% speak Spanish.  I also explained that to work for the Canadian government most folks were required to speak both National languages (yes there are some jobs not requiring both but most senior positions do).....No idea where that went.

Maybe we could ask one of the admins to forward a request to Management to review their stance on this translation.  Yes I know about bill 96.

At the time, we had several folks who offered to do the translations ........
