San Diego Chapter March 2023 Monthly Meeting

Please join us for our March chapter meeting. The meeting and presentation will be held Thursday, March 9th from 6-8pm PST, at the University of San Diego, Belanich Engineering Center BEC004 and will also be available via Zoom. The topic and speakers are as follows:
 
Topic: Cybersecurity and CSI – For the Present and the Future
 
Speakers:
Felipe Chee, Senior District Attorney Investigator - San Diego County District Attorney's Office
Felipe (Phil) Chee is currently with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office as a Senior District Attorney Investigator assigned to the regional cyber-crimes task force known as CATCH. Phil primarily works on computer and mobile forensic examinations and also conducts network intrusion investigations. He is a certified computer forensic examiner (CFCE, ICMDE, GCFE, GCFA) and volunteers as a peer review coach and instructor for the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialist (IACIS). Phil retired from the military reserves as a commissioned officer and in recent assignments he was an intel officer and subject matter expert for a mobile forensics program. He is also a member of the U.S Secret Service, Southern California Cyber Fraud Task Force.
 
Ryan Karkenny, Project Director of the Computer and Technology Crime High-Tech (CATCH) Response Team
C.A.T.C.H. is a multi-agency task force that was formed in June of 2000 to apprehend and prosecute criminals who use technology to prey on citizens. Ryan has been a Deputy District Attorney with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office since 2009. Over the course of his career Ryan has tried a wide variety of cases including murder, torture, robbery, etc. In addition to specializing in the admission and acquisition of digital evidence, Ryan has received extensive training in the areas of digital forensics and digital evidence presentation and has attended the National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI). Ryan has additional expertise in the area of cybersecurity. Ryan remains up to date with the latest technology including hardware and software advancements, computer programming languages and advancements in computer and networking security, with a focus on mobile devices. Ryan has given lectures to a wide range of audiences from federal agencies to state and local agencies.
