Last week, we initiated the first Auckland Chapter meeting of the year. We were literally blown away, but the sudden surge in people turning up, was stunning. For us, we normally have any where between 5-10 people, if we are are lucky, This year, the first session went off with a blast, 10 students from a local college turned up, many other interested people - making up a total of 23. We had a main speaker, who spoke about his research into why humans are gullible to hacking, which looked into the psychology of people including a survey. This was then followed by a standup session from a Financial sector incident handler, explaining their approach to uncovering phishing attacks, with several examples and a demonstration.
We are looking to setting up a CCSP study group, with those interested.
This has given us motivation to do even better on the next session in February 2018
Hope the rest of the year, goes off with the same level of motivation.
