How to keep a chapter from folding or ability to keep going?

Hi All

I am looking for inspiration, many people particularly in New Zealand have so many different means to go to security talks, from vendors, providers, and other organisations, it become bewildering to many especially online or via podcasts.

Particularly as since the pandemic hit our shores, there has been lots of activity online, but face to face talks, are becoming less.

With the advent of the Cybersecurity certification from ISC2, many people prefer to study by themselves or join online groups to study.

The issue we now face is that online ISC2 Auckland Chapter links via LinkedIn are preferred, as security has become mainstream with some many different facets including AI, ethics, governance and privacy issues arising.

A lot of professional organisations, through their own professional certifications internally, advocate mentoring and coaching as part of the professional growth of the individual.

So over the years, CISSP study groups have diminished due to the availability of online study groups, and other means of studying.  Many people prefer to study for themselves, in their own way.

The other issue is there are so many different certification bodies including AWS, Azure so name a few, that candidates can easily be confused as to the direction they should take.

So looking for suggestions to re-ignite the spark for participation and for people wanting to join a chapter.

Literally, everything is available online, so why do they actually need a local chapter?

Regards

@Caute_cautim  suggest that you reach out to @James.  James has one of the most active chapters and I believe they are doing in-person and virtual sessions.

I have attended their sessions and thoroughly enjoyed their presentations.

Hope that helps

Hi Caute,

Sarah Grover here, Chapter Relations Manager, we would love to work with your chapter individually to see what the best approach would be. Many of our chapters struggled throughout COVID, but are working on bouncing back and many have had great success. Please send us an email at chapters@isc2.org so we can set up time with you to discuss and work through it.

We are also hosting our first (ISC)2 Global Chapter Leaders Summit so that chapter leaders can share their success and best practices to help all chapters. The Summit is June 27-28, be sure to register to get access to it live or the recordings if you are not able to join: https://www.isc2.org/Events

Our chapters are our local connection for members to get involved, learn, network and support each other. We want to support you in our shared mission and vision.

Thank you,
Sarah Grover
