Campus Cyber Talk Series at Conestoga College, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

The Campus Cyber Talk Series was a great success as it marked the first partnership between (ISC)²
Toronto Chapter and an academic institution in Ontario. It was held at Conestoga College on the 24th of
November 2022 and was attended by over 100 students. The event featured five industry professionals,
Alison Atkins from Microsoft, David Baylon, Hendra T Hendrawan, Rola Turk from RBC, Denis Villeneuve,
and Carolyn Le Quere, who shared their knowledge and experiences in cybersecurity.

The event was titled "Champions of Information Security" and aimed to provide students with an
understanding of the latest trends in the cybersecurity industry and giving them an insight into the day-
to-day lives of information security professionals. Alison Atkins delivered the keynote speech
from Microsoft and focused on Zero Trust, a security model that assumes that all devices and users are
potentially compromised.

The panel discussion was moderated by Carolyn Le Quere, Director of Educational and Strategic
Partnerships at (ISC)² Toronto Chapter featured four other industry professionals who shared their

life journey into cybersecurity and the challenges they faced. The panellists also provided
valuable advice for students interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity.

Special thanks go to Kyla Frankowski (Conestoga), Jim Edwards (Program Chair, Conestoga), Russel
Foubert, Conestoga, and Raphael O. Adeyemo, President (ISC)² Toronto Chapter, for organizing and
attending the event. It was a 2-hours event that Ferro Technics supported.

The event, which was an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about the cybersecurity field and network with industry professionals, received positive feedback from the students and the
industry professionals who participated. The students appreciated the opportunity to learn from
experienced professionals and gain insights into cybersecurity. The industry professionals
were also impressed with the student's level of engagement and interest.

We would like to express our gratitude to Conestoga College, the industry professionals, and Ferro
Technics for their support and contributions to the event.
