[RESOLVED] Alberta, Canada (ISC)2 is alive and well! :)

Hello, I together with 2 other colleagues who recently got our CISSP status had applied as well as contacted the Alberta, Canada (ISC)2 chapter regarding membership.   So far, haven't heard a whiff of a response.    Was wondering if this local chapter still exists or is now defunct?   Hoping somebody in this forum can shed light on how a local chapter works or how we as new CISSPs can get involved?

Lol....would love to but we're based here in Calgary, Alberta. 🙂   Isn't this what local chapter supposed to be?   Fyi, I applied back in July while my two colleagues in August...now I understand during Summer, people are on holidays or vacations but it's now almost end of 3rd week (September), somebody's got to be back???

I'm now contemplating joining other InfoSec organizations here in Calgary if our very own (ISC)2 Alberta chapter isn't receptive to accepting new members...we just want to connect with like-minded individuals and continue our life-long learning/journey....

Sorry we can't help much. We are doing an offshoot in Kelowna if that's any help
(they are holding inaugural meeting Sept. 26). And you can always join us and
meet to watch the Webcast of our meetings if that helps you any in getting
started/through the rough patch. Too bad the Powers-That-Be (Samantha?
Amanda?) didn't think that some of the chapters might get lost and help in
transferring things to you ...

If you do geet going, let us know and we can definitely do "twin chapters" type
stuff.

Congratulations on passing the exam!

We look forward to welcoming you as newest members of our Chapter!

ISC2 Alberta Chapter is still very much alive.

Our Membership Director was simply on sabbatical from his teaching job.

However, had you just looked a bit further on our website under "Contact" you would have discovered my email address and phone number. http://isc2chapter-alberta.org/pages/contact/

President, ISC2 Alberta Chapter

We've found, from experience, that you can't delete your own posts. However, if
you go back to it and click on the three dots in the upper right-hand corner you
can select the option to edit it, and thus make any corrections or additional
explanations you want. (If you include a "controversial political statement" then
the Powers-That-Be will helpfully "archive" your post, which effectively removes
it from view 🙂

Lol...I did just that yesterday if you happen to look at the original post.    I laughed so hard when you mentioned about including "controversial political statement"...This is why I'm subscribed to the cisspforum mainly because of the humor!

However, I won't do such thing for risk in violating our Code of Ethics. 🙂

I submitted my membership form on September 9, 2018 as a new CISSP, never heard anything from them.

I submitted again today.
