Remove commercial solicitations on this forum

Looks like we are flooded with commercial solicitations on this forum. I am wondering if there's a way to reduce the occurrence?

I hope it can be addressed ASAP.

On another infosec forum I was on, they allowed these kind of commercial solicitations to kind of take over, didn't clean them up, and made the forum useless.  I soon left.

I note that the multiple adverts for certification question sets have all disappeared.

The person posting them, "Elizabeth Dowd," appears to have poofed, also.

Thank you Amanda @amandavanceISC2

Re: Remove commercial solicitations on this forum

I am just wondering if there are some quick and simple ways to reduce these types of postings. As mentioned by @emb021 , this type of activity can cause the forum loosing its participants.

Don't really want to get into language analysis types of tools, which can be difficulty and expensive to implement.

Re: Remove commercial solicitations on this forum

Not sure of an automated way to address this.

Most methods I've seen require the actions of moderators to address this problem.  This means the forum owners need to bring on addition folks, maybe volunteers, to help with managing things.

One is to have new members be initially moderated (have their posted reviewed before allowing them thru) to verify that they are a legit member posting legit items.

The second is to have moderators with the ability to delete inappropriate posts, in case some members later on post inappropriate items.  In if the person persists, the ability to remove them from the group.

Having been involved with managing other forums, including some FB groups, this is usually what is needed.
