Experience requirements for CISSP

I have a similar question. I have 8 years of physical security experience. Does this count as experience? I have experience in:

Domain 1. Security and Risk Management

Domain 2. Asset Security.

Domain 5. Identity and Access Management

Domain 6. Security Assessment and Testing.

Domain 7. Security Operations

On top of that, I am going to complete my degree in Cybersecurity.

HI, @terryc

In general I would say you look like you would have the needed experience. So many people do not realize that they actually perform security tasks every day even if they don't have security in their job title. The best thing I can say is that you will need someone to endorse you, so have that person review your experience and agree you have what is needed. I am sure I am not the only one who thinks we need way more than we really do. You sound like you have a lot of experience in different areas and would make a good addition to the fine people who work to protect things.

The official experience requirements can be found here. In short, you need a minimum of 5 years PAID experience in two or more of the eight domains. You can substitute one year of experience for your degree. Your endorser will need to certify all of that to become certified. Good luck!
