CCSP Preparation 2018

Hello CCSP aspirants,

I couldn't find an open discussion on preparation for CCSP so I am creating this new post. I welcome all who are preparing for CCSP exam and also those who have passed the exam and would like to give their valuable input for preparation for the exam, useful information on cloud, inputs based on your experience on cloud security and anything that helps a security professional to excel in cloud security space.

Great idea.  I started studying I think two years ago, but stopped because the "buzz" was that the study materials didn't line up especially well with the exam.  As expensive as the exams are, I didn't want to risk it, so stood down from the effort.  I'd would like to obtain the cert, however.

Hello Stephen,

Thanks for your comment and your interest in pursuing for CCSP. I am using the official study book for CCSP written by Brian T. O'Hara. I did the same for CISSP a few years ago.

I wish to start discussing and sharing thoughts on the topics and anything that we find a bit tough to digest.

Let me know if you are up for it.

Hi Sivakumar,

I am using the official guide from ISC2 written by Brian T O'hara. I believe there are other books on Amazon but I am sticking to this one for now.

Another resource for preparation is the subreddit r/ccsp.   Not a lot of subscribers as compared to r/cissp but it has some posts from time to time.    You may want to check it out.

Good luck with your preparation for the CCSP exam.

I sat for the exam last July and passed. I have submitted my endorsement application in August and I'm still waiting to get the final decision from (ISC)2. It has been more than six(6) weeks now. I'm not sure when that decision awarding me the certification will hit my mailbox.

That said, here is how I prepared for the test.

- I spend 6 months preparing for the exam: I studied at least 2 hours per day, 3 times a week. I'm already working fulltime in the Cybersecurity and Cloud arena so that professional experience proved to be a big plus.

In terms of books and online tools, I used the following ones:

- CCSP (ISC)2 Certified Cloud Security Professional Official Study Guide. I read it once from cover to cover.
(by Brian T. O'Hara, Ben Malisow), SYBEX
- CCSP Official (ISC)2 Practice Tests (by Ben Malisow), SYBEX. I went through it twice, answering all the questions and taking the two(2) practice exams.
- The Official (ISC)2 Guide to the CCSP CBK (by Adam Gordon). I read it once from cover to cover.

The first two (2) books come with online access to the Wiley Test Banks. Those test banks are really handy to help prepare and get ready for the big day.

FYI: The test questions/ exams are only designed to help test takers get used to the type of questions they will find on the real exam. Don't expect to see the same questions on the real test. None of the questions I encountered during my preparation appeared on my test. So, make sure you have a good understanding of the concepts and fundamentals. Use those test questions and exams to practice and sharpen yourself in six (6) core domains.

Best of luck to you and keep the learning going.

Sincerely,

I spent 40 hours to study and passed the CCSP exam this month.

The following is what I used to prepare for this exam:

It helps to pass this exam having some hands-on experience in cloud computing, ex. Azure and/or AWS, and sticking to the official CCSP CBK and study guide.

I too found having experience and knowledge on cloud service helps for preparing CCSP. I am following the official study book from isc2 and I hope its sufficient to prepare.
