Sources for CPE

In another thread there were comments about keeping up with CPE, especially with multiple certifications. To make matters worse different certifying organizations have different requirements, so doing this efficiently can become a maddening venn diagram.

I have a CISSP, CCSP, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CEH, CNDSP, Security+, spread across ISC2, ISACA, EC-Council, & Comptia.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The best ways to obtain CPE for me has been webinars:

https://www.sans.org/webcasts/archive/2018

Literally hundreds and hundreds of webcasts stored here. As an added bonus, they will give you a 1 hr certificate for each one you view. Everyone except Comptia accepts these. Comptia (Last time I checked), makes you do live webinars, which SANS also offers. They do one or two live ones each week.

Steve Gibson, a developer hosts security webcasts very frequently, and has a storehouse of archived ones as well. No printed certificate though 😞

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then there are online fairly inexpensive "Classrooms"

Linux Academy

Udemy

Cybrary

Great for deep dives!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Organizational CPE

ISACA

ISC2

They both offer CPE by reading magazines and taking quizzes or attending chapter meetings etc.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

More is better! Get more certs

Getting more certs. Most organizations, ISACA and ECCouncil in particular award you for getting more certifications, but that makes you need more CPE the next year!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Other ideas? I'd love to hear them.

Hi Brian

Another source, I find useful is Brighttalk sessions:

https://www.brighttalk.com/mybrighttalk/knowledge-feed

Register and they provide CPE's for sessions, you engage in and keep yourself up to date at the same time.

You chose the areas, you want to participate within.

Any one use these?
