Research Study – New Approaches to Cybersecurity Hiring, Training and Team Building

Hi everyone!

I’m excited to share that we just published a new research study – the (ISC)² Cybersecurity Career Pursuers Study – that can guide hiring organizations in understanding the experiences of those who have done the job, and the expectations of those working toward entering the field.

Findings point to strong agreement about:

  • Tasks and experiences that make a cybersecurity professional successful
  • The value of mentorship
  • Key career moments when pursuers typically seek a cybersecurity path
  • What attracts people to cybersecurity
  • Candidate qualities that are strong indicators of future success

You can read our blog post on the report findings here: https://blog.isc2.org/isc2_blog/2021/04/cybersecurity-career-pursuers-report.html

And access the report directly here: https://www.isc2.org/-/media/ISC2/Research/2021/CybersecurityCareerPursuers-Study

The study offers 10 strategic insights that hiring organizations can use to build bench strength on their security teams, and also outlines the technical skill areas that pros say were most useful to know during their first three years in the field.

What do you think of their selections? Do you agree with the areas identified as important for those new to the profession to learn?
