The College of Arts & Sciences (COAS) and the College of Aeronautics (COA) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University—Worldwide (ERAU-W) announce an exciting new initiative for strategic growth in Human Security as defined by two interrelated areas: Emergency Services and Communication. In support of this initiative, COAS and COA are forming a cluster of new tenure-track Assistant Professor positions that, combined with existing faculty, will promote ERAU-W as a national leader in these areas.
The faculty in this new interdisciplinary cluster will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues across multiple disciplines to advance the body of knowledge associated with emergency services and communication, providing a fertile environment for faculty collaboration and excellence in scholarship. Specifically, COAS and COA are seeking faculty who will contribute original research that advances theory, concepts, practice, and/or knowledge in the broadly-defined area of human security. This integrated faculty cluster will uniquely incorporate expertise associated with several diverse, yet interrelated, fields of study. For example, it is essential to understand the interrelationship between cybersecurity and human factors when monitoring risks that have the potential to harm employees or impact the reputation of an organization. Also vital to effective crisis management is the comprehension of both the psychology and the practical realities of communicating with emergency responders from multiple generations and culturally diverse agencies. Industry leaders must be equipped to respond to crises and effectively mitigate hazards, improve disaster response, and interact with homeland security. Subject matter expertise of selected candidates, in collaboration with existing faculty, will be used to investigate these critical social issues while also engaging colleagues across COAS and COA in the development of supporting interdisciplinary courses and degree programs that transcend individual disciplines.
In support of this initiative, COAS and COA invite applicants for seven tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the following disciplinary areas across five ERAU-W departments:

Successful candidates for these highly interdisciplinary positions will have the opportunity to integrate the work of the cluster with existing collaborative entities, such as the new COAS Virtual Center for Excellence in Communication Studies and the developing COAS National Center for Investigations in Emergency Services. New faculty will support existing and planned degree programs in Aeronautics, Communication, Cybersecurity, Emergency Services, and related areas while also establishing a record of excellence in scholarship that demonstrates a promising and ongoing research trajectory. Specifically, the successful candidates will be able to support research initiatives and academic programs in one or more of the following areas: aviation/aerospace electronic systems, communication, computer science, corporate social responsibility, cybersecurity, emergency services, human resilience, network analysis, public relations and new media, statistics and analytics, psychology, and smart technologies. Ideal candidates will have both academic and career experience that will enable them to investigate real issues at the cross-section of these disciplinary areas.
Position and Application Requirements
For each of the seven advertised positions, a doctorate in the discipline or a related field is required. Given the applied, interdisciplinary nature of the positions, at least three years of professional experience is highly preferred.
