Cloud security engineer on the Cybersecurity Standards and Engineering Team - NASA

Summary

 

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) at Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking a highly skilled individual to serve as a cloud security engineer on the Cybersecurity Standards and Engineering Team (CSET). CSET establishes Agency-wide Standards and guidance to coordinate the technical implementation of Information Technology (IT) security policy.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

 

  • As an IT leader, you will ensure that the Agency's cloud computing environments are secure through the development of standards, participating in Agency-level projects, and defining the Enterprise cybersecurity cloud architecture.
  • Serve as the technical engineering expert on the broad and complex field of cloud computing technologies, including the strengths and limitations of concepts, practices, and technologies.
  • Author and review engineering artifacts to guide personnel in procuring information systems and capabilities within.
  • Perform technical security risk analyses on cloud-provided services, products, and tools before incorporating into NASA's cloud architecture.
  • Ensure NASA is compliant with all statutes, regulations, standards, and policies - both national and NASA. This includes analysis, interpretation, and collaboration with external Agencies and industry.
  • Establish and maintain interoperability, integration, systems compatibility, and connectivity across cloud computing environments.
  • Identify major milestones and resources required to complete assignments on schedule.
  • Make informed recommendations based on technical expertise, experience, and the careful analysis of alternatives to guide architecture decisions in order to maximize enterprise cloud services, security, delivery, and sustainability.
  • Serve as an Agency subject matter expert (SME) for projects, activities, initiatives, change boards, and working groups. Inform and influence cross-Agency teams and standards bodies to benefit the Agency and the federal IT environments.
  • Develop and maintain cloud cybersecurity technical standards, specifications, and handbooks.
