CPEs for Self Study?

Hi Everyone - just passed an ISC2 cert (CCSP) after studying for it for two months.  I also have a CISSP.

Two related questions.

* Can we get CPE credits for self studying?  If so, how can we claim?

* Would the hours be for our prior certification, or the new one?  (My bad if that's a silly question - it's just that I studied for the CCSP before attaining it, so I'm not sure if there's a cutoff date to qualify to start earning CPEs for that before I'm officially certified.)

Thank you in advance for anyone's feedback!

Self-study is a form of education, so yes it can apply.  Official details are in the cpe handbook.

One of the rules is that you must earn the CPEs after you have earned the certification to which you are applying them. So no, studying for the CCSP exam generally does not to result in CCSP CPE credits, but it could apply to the CISSP that you held during your studies..
