Provisionally passed the ISSEP. Background: 4xISACA, 2xISC2, 2xGIAC,1xIAPP certs. 35 years in the industry. I always give myself 3 months to study for an exam, I first did the official ISC2 online training (i.e. watched the videos) to get a feel for the course/certification. After that I did the training exam. Then I spent about 1.5 of the 3 months to read all the material. Stopped reading about one week before the exam. I spent the bulk (80%) of the time reading NIST 800-160, NIST 800-37 and IATF 3.1. I did not read PMBOK or INCOSE at all (except the incose PDF-document that was linked in the course). I normally use pocketprep but it was not available for ISSEP, tried cccure and udemy practice exams but it felt like those very made for an older version of the exam and the content did not align with the ISC2 course. So I used the training exam instead. I found the exam very hard, I was convinced I had failed.

Yesterday I provisionally passed the CISSP-ISSEP exam after two weeks of intensive study. I initially started preparing on 1 May but got seriously ill for two weeks forcing me to lose two weeks of study time, but thanks to the advise sourced on this forum I was able to focus on the right content and passed the exam. I used the Following materials to prepare: 1. NIST SP 800-160 V1R1 2. NIST SP 800-161 3. NIST SP 800-39 4. NIST SP 800-37 R2 5. NIST SP 800-53 R5 6. NIST SP 800-88 R1 7. NIST SP 800-40 R4 8. IATF CH 1-4 9. CISSP-ISSEP Official Flash Cards 10. CNSS Instruction No. 4009 (This is very handy) I did not use any practice questions. I got some videos that summarized PMBOK 7 as i did not have enough time to read the book cover to cover. Something worth mentioning is that I had also Read the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook earlier this year but this was for project related reasons. This helped me understand the SE process better.

See below study materials i utilized. Caveat; I'm CISM, CRISC certified so Risk Management was not a challenge. studied 2hrs a day for 6months - Purchased and watched ISSEP training seminar video training 3 times. (pricey but it was an great investment) - SP 800-160 r1 entirely - SP 800-161 - SP 800-88 - IATF CH 1-4 - SSE-CCM CISSP is still undefeated!
