Re: Welcome to the CISSP Group!

Hello @rslade

I am sorry for the troubles here. I've sent this back to the vendor support team to look into, but I had a few (hopefully) quick questions. I also wanted to let you know that if you prefer, we can communicate via Private Message here on the Community or via email. I wanted to put that out there just in case you would like to do that instead of post in this thread, I am happy to accommodate whatever communication preferences you have.

  • How many times did you use the Reply link from the notification that you received?  i.e. Did you try to reply more than once from the same notification?
  • If you do not mind sharing, what email client are you using?
  • Since this group is set up a little differently and locked down with different access/permissions, I am wondering if you would get the same result in another board of the Community. If you receive notifications from other areas of the Community (outside of the CISSP Group here), would you mind testing a reply to one of those threads as well, please?

If you have any questions on this, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thanks,

It occurs to me that the reply links may, indeed, be limited to "one off." So, I'll
give it another go with this one. (Interesting that, normally, the system doesn't
tell me that I have posted something, presumably on the theory that I already
know. However, the "reply by email" function apparently hasn't figured this out.)
(At this point, I don't consider that a bug, as it makes checking on the success of
posting via email easier.)

I'll try replying to some other postings this morning, as well.

Re: Welcome to the CISSP Group!

Per the "reply via email" function on the "community":

Well, you've got six of my email addresses, now. You can use them all. (I do not
mind multiple copies.)

I've (blind) copied this reply to the community@isc2.org address. If you want to
send me your email address, I can send you whatever bounces I receive, and blind
copy you on test replies until we get this sorted.

Yup, as noted in the second test that *did* get through. So, the reply address that
is given does seem to be limited to one reply.

However, I've sent about a half dozen replies via email this morning, and the
results are hit and miss. At least three got through, but at least three didn't. (So
far.)
Did get through:

I use Pegasus, version 3.12c (which is an older version) under Win 10 at the
moment.

As noted above, already done. The results seem to be hit and miss. Also, some
replies via email do seem to take quite a while to get posted, so the results may be
a bit skewed.

Re: Welcome to the CISSP Group!

Reply via email seems to be getting worse as the day goes on.  I've probably tried a dozen responses and received four bounces so far, all of which I've forwarded to the community@isc2.org account.

Re: Welcome to the CISSP Group!

Hello @rslade,

Thank you very much for testing this. It sounds like we are half-way to a fix and I am glad to hear we are making headway. I will forward along your answers to the vendor support team so they can investigate further.

If you want to copy me on your replies to the community, my direct email here is soconnor@isc2.org.

Thank you again, I hope you have a great weekend!

Re: Welcome to the CISSP Group!

I can't seem to unsubscribe only from this thread about email replies, but rather only from the group as a whole, for email notifications. Until this is sorted out, afraid that's what I have to do. I really don't need multiple email messages each day about how a reply did or didn't work.

I know there are a lot of people working really hard to make the new community stuff work, and to those folks, I say "Thank you." Growing pains, new systems, we get it.

But not being able to correctly handle email replies to a web forum, and the disaster that is the new CPE management page, are really signs that someone dropped the ball in the testing and acceptance phase before the community was rolled out.

Re: Welcome to the CISSP Group!

If you individually subscribed to the topic/thread, you can delete the subscription in your profile.  However, if you subscribed at the board/group level, I know of no way to unsubscribe to just one of its topics.  That said, you may be able to do so using a rule in your email reading software.

The CPE site and the community forum are two disjoint systems made by two separate companies that (ISC)² deployed approximately 6 months apart.  It really is not fair to blame the shortcomings of one on the other.  On the other hand, there does seem to be a causal relationship between the rise of the community and the fall of the Yahoo! CISSPforum, so feel free to throw some shade there.
