The Future of the CISSP's Area of Effect

The CISSP is certainly a battle-tested certification with an incredible barrier to entry both in its size of material and the steep price of the exam. The great news is that all of us here have crossed that trial and wear the badge of a CISSP proudly but my futurist outlook is always peering towards the bleeding edge of what the field is to become.

Questions of what technologies lay beyond the observable horizon and what lasting effects they have on the overall ocean that is information technology is something I have always found enjoyment swimming in.

I want to start this thread in that spirit. Who will join me in this sub-group as we discuss what we see as the future of our collective field, regardless of the type of IT you are in. I will start - Advanced AI and Machine Learning such as that brought forth by Google with TensorFlow, DeepMind, and BackStory or with Palo Alto's Cortex. These areas have a great positive and negative disruption capability that could either developed with sanity leading the edge or with insanity doing the same. Either way, the conversation must be had, and the tools must be developed to ensure that we aren't opening Pandora's box tenfold and squared.

Let's all go swimming shall we,

OK, I'll see your AI, and raise you quantum computing.

Santorum knows in his heart that elderly Dutch people are
routinely euthanized against their will by doctors. He believes
this to be true, no matter what the elite media tries to tell
him. It's the same way I know that one in four Laotians are born
with an extra finger and that the most common name in Chad is
Chad. It's just what I believe. - Joshua Keating t.co/EKLzFFia

And then there's PopulistNet, or PeopleNet.  I really like that.

By the way, I also really like your graphic of tiny us exploring down in the dark abyss, finding minor items, while above us, in the dark, the huge Kraken is steadily reaching down to eat us alive.  Seems fairly representative of the professional, overall.

A very good point, we should add 5G,. Wifi 6; The Edge where the majority of the Critical High Value Applications will exist; the lack of visibility within cloud computing multi-cloud constructs along with ShadowIT; Data Lakes and the European recent call for them to own their own Cloud infrastructure entirely; Digital Identity and the ramifications.

I absolutely agree with that and raise you the ability to integrate both into a single solution. The ability for a dynamic "TensorFlow'esque" program to compute complex scenarios utilizing quantum technology. I know it may sound skynet-centric but with the advent of robotics being used for more tasks, quantum computing becoming a reality, and AI/ML being more integrated into our IoT, I imagine that soon these suites of products will find their way to each other!
