ISC2 Community Decommissioned – Effective May 29, 2026

One of the most valuable ways for ISC2 members to engage with ISC2 and their peers is through ISC2 Chapters. ISC2 has unveiled a new Chapters Community which provides a forum for ISC2 members, future members and Chapter members to engage in conversations, build connections, enhance their career and make a difference in the global cybersecurity community. This creates an exciting opportunity to enhance the experience of our ISC2 Community by encouraging members, candidates and associates to join a new Chapter Community (https://isc2chapters.isc2.org/). Simply login using your ISC2 single-sign-on account.

If you do not immediately see your local chapter, keep checking as more chapters will join in the coming months. Even if you are not a member of an ISC2 Chapter, you can still join and connect with other ISC2 Chapter Community members.

I live in a rural area which historically has no ISC2 chapter. I work in an urban area where the ISC2 chapter has struggled to gel and take hold.

Now that the Community will be decommissioned, please discuss the possibility of creating an at-large Chapter in this new environment, so that unserved areas can enjoy the benefits of accessing any Chapter.

Hi @ericgeater,

Come on over to the new community and check it out. I think you'll see that is one of the benefits of the new platform. For example, many chapters hold virtual events and accept guests or members to join from outside their geographic area. The Chapters Community can give you visibility to those types of events and more.

Not all current chapters are in the new system yet, so it will continue to grow over the next year. In the meantime, you can look around and engage in the general discussion forum, which is open to you even if you are not a current chapter member.

This hits the nail on the head! You'll really drive peoples' curiosity about the new platform, because events are the key reason why anyone would express an interest in a chapter!

@mariatirado Sadly our chapter had one organizational meeting and one actual meeting and attended both. The person that started it sold his company and lost interest. Fortunately our ISSA is top notch and attend those meetings. I used to follow the ISC2 blogs and enjoyed this community. I know that it takes a lot of work and appreciate all that you have done. Losing this and the news of the bi-monthly publication means that will have to dig harder to support our folks. I have met challenges before. Best wishes.

There does appear to be a global discussion forum at: https://isc2chapters.isc2.org/forum . It does require credentials to access, which both reduces the breadth of inadvertent information disclosure and limits the ability to use Google to search the discussion forum. One can use their existing community/cpe/ISC2 credentials. No need to create new ones.

Based on a quick test, one can create, edit and delete their own "new discussion" and they can like and reply to others' discussions, similar to the legacy community. This feature appears global and not compartmentalized to individual chapters (allaying my concern). One can chose to join zero or more chapters (allaying Eric's concern).

It also has a directory of users at https://isc2chapters.isc2.org/people that collects a lot more personal information than the legacy community. There are a variety of togglable privacy switches, but I do not

see a way to view how my profile appears to others to validate that I am not exposing undesired PII. One could do this in the legacy community by viewing their profile while logged out.

The discussion forum does require one to disclose their location at least at the country level. There is no obvious way to opt out or mask the location while remaining truthful. Neither "Prefer not to say" nor "Planet Earth" are acceptable inputs.

The discussion forum also requires both "First Name" and "Last Name" fields. This presents an i18n issue as some cultures put the family name first, others have multiple surnames and still others have but a single name (famously, "Madonna", "King Charles", and "Jesus" (Christ is a title)). Much more inclusive is a single "Full Name" field and then to have a separate "Preferred name" or "Screen Name" field. Then to protect PII, allow one to optionally not disclose the "Full name" field.
