Affirmative.

I still recall a very small 'app' that was downloadable on Windows systems (this is circa 1997-1998).The software was an automated gif that would imitate a cat walking across your screen. Sitting down, sleeping, etc. After I started in cyber, I remembered the name of the little program and looked it up. Sure enough it was malware, and over half the computers in the area where I worked had that little cat walking around on the screen!!!

Your Android phone can get hacked just by playing this video. [don't worry that link is to the story not the video]. How does it work? It relies upon remote code execution vulnerability (CVE-2019-2107) that affects over 1 billion devices running Android OS between version 7.0 and 9.0 (Nougat, Oreo, or Pie). Not as cute as you thought, eh? Now, just sit back and wait for that Android OEM OS update...

I do not use an Android phone.

Yet think about it. Whoever could have guessed that the Internet, mind-boggling for when it first came out . . would end up as a venue for cute cat/dog/horse/parrot and you-name-it videos!!????

Dr. J.
