The UK Government's Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT) has an open consultation on cybersecurity risks related to AI and is proactively seeking input from ISC2 members.

DSIT is proposing to create a voluntary Code of Conduct which will set baseline security requirements for all AI technologies.

This Code of Conduct will then be submitted to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) to guide the development of a global standard on the cybersecurity for AI systems and models.

The Code and technical standard will help create a common understanding of security expectations and enable cyber security companies and certification firms to help companies with testing and assuring their products and services.

Respond to the call for views by completing the questionnaire accompanying the consultation by the 9 August. https://www.gov.uk/government/calls-for-evidence/call-for-views-on-the-cyber-security-of-ai/call-for-views-on-the-cyber-security-of-ai

Learn more about AI on ISC2 Insights: https://www.isc2.org/Insights?PROD_ISC2_V10_DATE_SORT_DESC%5BrefinementList%5D%5Btopics%5D%5B0%5D=AI%20%26%20ML

If it happens then definitely it is going to be win-win game for all cyber security companies and milestone towards Global Standards Development !
My five key takeaways of the proposed Code of Conduct and technical standard for AI cybersecurity are:

Establishes Baseline Security Requirements: The Code of Conduct will set foundational security requirements for AI technologies, ensuring that all AI systems adhere to a minimum standard of cybersecurity practices.

Guides Global Standards Development: By submitting the Code to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), it will help guide the development of a global cybersecurity standard for AI systems and models, promoting international consistency in AI security.

Fosters a Common Understanding: The Code and the subsequent technical standard will create a common understanding of security expectations across the industry, making it easier for organizations to align on best practices.

Supports Cybersecurity Companies: The standardized approach will enable cybersecurity companies and certification firms to assist other organizations in testing and assuring the security of their AI products and services, improving overall industry confidence.

Encourages Voluntary Compliance: As a voluntary Code of Conduct, it allows for flexibility while encouraging companies to adopt strong security measures, ultimately leading to a safer AI ecosystem without imposing mandatory regulations.
