If the title doesn't scare you from driving your local autobahn maybe the fact that there is less than 53 cm of clearance on either side of a tractor trailer when it is passing you at top speed. Software is set to replace truckers and make the roads safe! Believe it??

Yeah, I'm as leary of software as the next guy, but I live in a country where a
licenced trucker blew through a stop sign and wiped out a hockey team on a bus. I
believe it.

The organisation's President & CTO Xiaodi Hou was quoted a few times in that article, saying things like: -

'“A few hundred years ago we were using cows to help us plow the land. We’re still looking for ways for human labor to be done by machine. ”

Before you completely remove the human element from a system, risks should be evaluated with the scope. With farming, the scope is limited to a field --- but that wont' be the case with these semis.

“This is really a natural evolution of human civilization. I’m very proud I’m on the forefront of it.”

I wonder if he'd be proud --- or even comfortable --- if his kids were being ferried to school in a self-driving vehicle.
