Smart device Labelling FCC - US Cyber Trust Mark

Hi All

A great initiative, but how long before all of these devices are labelled, what about all the ones currently resident, and in some cases could be there for years and years? What about all those Chinese CCTV cameras etc.

Officials likened the new U.S. Cyber Trust Mark initiative — to be overseen by the Federal Communications Commission, with industry participation voluntary — to the Energy Star program, which rates appliances’ energy efficiency.

What about when public key cryptography becomes obsolescent and Quantum Cryptography is required?

This could be a great role for someone identifying and locating all non compliant IoT devices?

In some cases, it may be cheaper to take the entire building down and start again.

Or UL markings, manufacturer names/logos, etc. Don't quite understand how yet another sticker will prove the device is not counterfeit or has not been tampered with before reaching the customer.

Looks like the Cyber Trust Mark is now a thing!

Makes me wonder if the DoD will have any influence in forbidding this list of companies to gain this new Mark.
