      <description>&lt;P&gt;Two tricksters in China have &lt;A href="https://www.theregister.com/2021/03/31/tax_scammers_fool_ai_facial_recognition/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"&gt;fooled the state's massive facial recognition system&lt;/A&gt;.&amp;nbsp; Temporarily, anyway.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;It's really interesting to look at this story and see the implications behind it.&amp;nbsp; One of the first things people ask about face recognition is, "Can't you just fool it with a picture?"&amp;nbsp; Apparently the Chinese thought of that.&amp;nbsp; Your image, seemingly, has to be "live," so the attackers used a simple deepfake app to animate the picture.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;And that was enough to fool the system ...&lt;/P&gt;</description>
