A police commissioner in New South Wales, Australia, has suggested that there be an app to register consent to engage in se ... ummm ... private activity that we can't discuss because of the pr0n filter.

This is a stupid idea on so many levels.

Does it mean you can't have se ... ummm ... consensual activity if you don't have an iPhone?

How much private information do you have to give away to register?

Does it mean all of your se ... ummm ... private encounters are registered in a central database?

Do you have to specify every type of activity you consent to?

How easy is it to change your mind once you've registered something?

How secure is it going to be? I mean, really? How hard would it be to hack something like this? How hard would it be to create a fake app that says yes when you mean no?

And then there is good old plain old fashioned "rubber hose" cryptography, aka coercion ...
