OK, I will admit my ignorance. I've been in this business 20 years, and had no clue about ETSI. I've dealt with NIST, ISO/IEC, IEEE, IETF, WWWC, all US or international standards bodies So, to help other awareness-challenged Americans like myself, here is what I learned just now after nosing around the ETSI web site:

From https://www.etsi.org/about

"We are at the forefront of emerging technologies across all sectors of industry and society that make use of ICT. Our 900+ member organizations are drawn from 65 countries and five continents."

...

"ETSI is a European Standards Organization (ESO). We are the recognized regional standards body dealing with telecommunications, broadcasting and other electronic communications networks and services.

We have a special role in Europe. This includes supporting European regulations and legislation through the creation of Harmonised European Standards. Only standards developed by the three ESOs (CEN, CENELEC and ETSI) are recognized as European Standards (ENs)."

Remember, the great thing about standards is that we have so many to choose from!

Craig
