      <description>&lt;P&gt;It's worse than just shut down.&amp;nbsp; The drives brick themselves, leaving you with no way to get to your data after have reached&amp;nbsp;32768 cumulative powered-on hours.&amp;nbsp; How's that for planned obsolescence?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The particularly nasty part about this is that RAID arrays are likely to completely collapse, given that all the drives share a common power-switch.&amp;nbsp; In this scenario, hot-spares do nothing but give you a false warm-fuzzy.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
