Police warn of ducks "all hyped up on meth"

The Loretto Police department, in Tennessee, has warned people not to flush drugs down the toilet because of the potential effects on wildlife, and the attendant dangers to the human population.

"Ducks, Geese, and other fowl frequent our treatment ponds and we shudder to think what one all hyped up on meth would do."

(Look, I don't make up the news, I just report it ...)

I kayak fish the Potomac river downstream from Washington D.C. No telling what is getting flushed down that river on a daily basis from the Blue Plains Waste treatment plant which is on the lowest part of DC along the water. The base where I work is next up river from Blue Plains, Naval Research Lab. I do know that if the wind is blowing from the SSW my office reeks from the smell. Lovely thoughts.

NRL is loaded with geese. By the looks of the LARGE piles of vegetative matter that they leave behind they are enjoying what DC flushes.

Yeah, all the headlines I initially saw stressed the "gators on meth" thing, too.
Which was mildly amusing. But the "Ducks, Geese, and other fowl frequent our
treatment ponds and we shudder to think what one all hyped up on meth would
do" was hilarious. "Run! Methed-out Mallards are attacking! Crackhead
canvasbacks! Tooting teals! Whizzing widgeons! Scaups on smack!"
