    <description>&lt;P&gt;Us old-timers have unusual amusements when we show up at conferences (to make up for the fact that we've heard all the presentations before).&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Dr. Eugene Spafford (aka spaf) at RSA this year, with some friends, was remonstrating with a kid at a booth that his company could not secure all computers, as claimed.&amp;nbsp; The kid started to riposte that "The only secure computer is powered off and in a block of concrete..."&amp;nbsp; &lt;A href="https://twitter.com/TheRealSpaf/status/1103181431046430720" target="_blank" rel="noopener"&gt;He couldn't understand why they all burst out laughing&lt;/A&gt;.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;spaf is the &lt;A href="https://spaf.cerias.purdue.edu/quotes.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"&gt;author of the statement&lt;/A&gt; that "The only truly secure system is one that is powered off, cast in a block of concrete and sealed in a lead-lined room with armed guards - and even then I have my doubts."&amp;nbsp; (I had a subscription to "Scientific American" back then, and recall reading the original Dewdney column.&amp;nbsp; It's possible the kid wasn't born then ...)&lt;/P&gt;</description>
