iPhones don't like helium ...

At Morris Hospital, in Illinois, all the iPads and iPhones suddenly stopped working.

They had a new MRI machine, so was this some kind of EMP? Well, no. Android phones were still working fine. But it was related to the MRI, which, it turned out, was leaking helium gas.

Apparently, Apple has recently switched from quartz chip clocks to MEMS, which can be poisoned or otherwise affected by helium.

Keep your iPhones away from helium balloons.

Interesting. Few colleagues have been telling me that iPhones are unique --- but until now I wasn't quite able to appreciate that...
