Amnesty International has been the subject of a spearphishing attack using the Pegasus tool.

So what?

Well, Pegasus isn't your standard back-alley RAT created by some teenagers in the basement. It is sold by NSO Group, an Israeli company, and is supposedly only sold to governments.

NSO Group’s response to incidents like this has been to say that Pegasus is supposed to be used solely by governments, to enable them to track criminals and terrorists. But there is a fair history of Pegasus escaping those bounds ...

(So, would it be legal for a government to try and track human rights activists? Would it be ethical?)
