Obviously someone is not listening given the amount of fake news about and as you state it becoming more difficult for human being to make rational decisions, based on the information they receive. Given the amount of information humans have to absorb quickly and make decisions, this is hardly surprising. Hence the reasons why social engineering has been so successful over the years.
