    <description>&lt;P&gt;According to &lt;A href="http://www.zdnet.com/article/ex-intel-security-expert-this-new-spectre-attack-can-even-reveal-firmware-secrets/" target="_blank"&gt;reports&lt;/A&gt;, the latest version of the Spectre attack can even give access to the firmware.&amp;nbsp; You're not even supposed to able to get there from the kernel.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I'm sorry, but I did warn you about this.&amp;nbsp; Seventeen years ago I was teaching that multi-core CPUs were subject to race conditions, and both Spectre and Meltdown are simply specialized types of race conditions ...&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;(It's too bad that basic computer architecture seems to have been reduced in the CBK ...)&lt;/P&gt;</description>
